Our Story

By The Way is a cozy new neighborhood and bar from Uptown Hospitality Group (Uptown Social, Share House, Bodega) and Southern Charm's Craig Conover and Austen Kroll. Our shared vision is for By The Way is a warm and welcoming neighborhood establishment that guests can tuck into at all hours of the day and night for stellar food and drink, genuine Southern hospitality, and nonstop good vibes. 

Our menu offers classic, comforting American fare from Executive Chef Marcus Shell. The bar program celebrates a mix of old and new classics that speak to the moment - perfectly-chilled martinis, well-balanced cocktails, approachable wines, local, domestic, and imported brewers, canned seltzers and spritzers, and seasonally-rotating Zero Proof (N/A) concoctions. We collaborated closely with Oliver Haslegrave of the Brooklyn-based interior architecture and design firm Home Studios to create a warm and playful space featuring plush booths and baquette seating, bespoke lighting, natural materials like leather, marble, metal, and stone, a glittering skylight, a dramatic back bar, custom plasterwork by Benjamin Lai, and a hand-painted mural by Amanda Lamontage.
